1) What are some takeaways and outcomes that participants walk away with?
Being able to tell my brain and body to respond with confidence when something new was thrown at me is a great skill to learn and practice :)
Collaboration is key
LISTEN! I loved the active listening portion. In the world we live in it is so easily to be distracted or to only half listen when someone is telling you something.
I enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about coworkers I normally wouldn't interact with.
Improv helped us improve trust and communication.
It was inspiring to see the team fully engaged throughout the session, and to come away feeling like they had grown to know each other, not only much better, but in a new way.
We learned a lot of new things about one another's communication styles, senses of humor, and the way we think.
The team really enjoyed the takeaways in being better active listeners, pushing ourselves to be uncomfortable, taking risks, and developing more empathy for one another. The activities and learnings will be valuable tools to take with us to our everyday that I believe will help increase our presence and engagement with each other, and ultimately boost productivity, personal/professional fulfillment, and fun factor :)
2) Sounds fun! What will the introverts think of it?
A majority of our team were initially anxious about our event with Nerd Improv, but within the first 15 minutes we were fully engaged and having a great time.
Many of us thought we were going to be doing some major acting in front of some teammates we had just met. We were wrong - this workshop was amazing. Lots of small activities mixing the large group and small 1-on-1 time with other teammates. Nothing required "acting skills" - just have to be present and participate.
Nerd Improv created an amazing environment that helped put the skepticism aside and enabled the team to work together, develop a deeper sense of trust and communication and above all, fill a room full of laughter for two hours.
Won't lie I was a bit intimidated at first but it turned out to be a super fun experience!
I definitely was a little nervous when I found out we would be doing improv…The activities ended up being great! They really work with you to help you open up and you get to connect and become vulnerable (something I hate) with your co-workers. It was an eye-opening experience.
The early apprehension from some folks evaporated after the first game. Some skeptics become ambassadors of improv.
Even the most skeptical among us were won over by the charm, fun, and insight we got from the event.
Danny is able to immediately put the group at ease and create an environment full of laughter and intentional learning.
It was clear that our staff opened up quickly after the first round - by the end, everyone was striking poses!
My team loved it (they were extremely dubious going into it) so it made me look good for planning it.
I know everyone was nervous/not the most excited when we started, but Nerd Improv was able to pull us out of our comfort zones and help us connect in a new way as a group. Thanks again for coming!!
3) Improv Online? What’s it Like Virtually?
We’ve been apart for so long, felt connected on a personal level.
Amazing!! We did this with a group of 30 coworkers. People reached out to me afterwards thanking me - saying they were terrified of improv at first but they had a blast! Such a great team building activity and great for people with any level of comfort with improv. The tech logistics were flawless and Chris's execution was great. Would recommend to any group big or small!
Chris is a master at his craft and hosted a super fun online experience! I thoroughly enjoyed my first improv class and have already started using my newfound skills with colleagues, family n kids in person and on zoom!

The digital improv class with Chris was excellent…He is very high/positive-energy, yet also very thoughtful in his approach to bringing everyone together given the difficulties of doing so online. Chris is an Improv veteran with ~20 years of experience in that space, and is therefore able to make great use of all the ways how Improv can be made fun, memorable and enjoyable. For us this was a super fun team bonding experience, and particularly impactful given that half of the team had not worked together in person before.
I've done improv before, and as an introvert, it was actually easier online for me.
We booked Chris for a virtual company offsite. He did an amazing job of corralling our team and bring out trust, connection, improv and fun. I would highly recommend you book with him to have fun and connect with improv. He brought our team closer together!
This was a perfect virtual experience for my work colleagues. Great team-building exercising in today's virtual world. Highly recommend for all types of settings but works very well for a corporate retreat/team-building activity.
4) Why should I work specifically with Nerd Improv?
Engaging, useful, thoughtful and humorous - these folks are really good at training and company culture development through the medium of improvisation.
My only regret is not booking them for longer! The team left energized and eager to apply some of the techniques Danny shared throughout the workshop. I highly recommend Nerd Improv for a fun yet super productive team activity.
Danny did an AMAZING job leading our group in multiple improv activities. The thing I enjoyed the most was his ability to relate the improv activities to our business in Public Accounting...yes, you heard it correctly, Public Accounting! I have not laughed so hard in a long time.
Many members of the team were initially apprehensive about doing improv, and the facilitators were able to work within everyone's comfort levels and to tie improv activities into workplace communication lessons. I should also add, everyone ended up laughing.
SO awesome! We brought Nerd Improv in for a team building workshop and the feedback I got afterwards was great - a lot of people said it was their favorite thing we've ever done. I especially like that we got to learn some new skills around listening and communication and that we got to have fun while doing it.
Nerd Improv provides a safe space to explore, play and create. This helps establish trust and creativity which are imperative to good teamwork.
They did an incredible job of warming everyone up for a day of sharing, learning and being really present.
Sure you build communication skills, and set your ~creative vibes~ free, but what we got most out of having Nerd Improv in our office was we built stronger relationships. And that is invaluable to office culture. If you're an office manager stop reading this review and book the nerds.
He suggested starting the day off with the team building- such a great idea! People were more open and susceptible to talking about challenging topics we had planned for the rest of the day…Guaranteed laughs throughout the entire event.
Everyone left the event feeling pretty fired up and I'd say Nerd Improv helped us blow our two goals of having fun and building camaraderie out of the water.
